Spring is trying to come! We had beautiful weather this weekend which meant a project was bound to happen and this weekend it was DIY Front Door Makeover!
Next month will be the 2 year mark on buying our house and changing our front door has been on the list since day one. One of our biggest reservations was the fact the price tag, the one we had been keeping an eye on was around $1,000. I don’t know how many times we have been into Lowes or Menards and window shopped doors.
Calvin came across this one and decided at a $219 price tag we needed to finally go ahead and tackle that project and cross it off the list. Our old door was actually hard to open from the outside, was pretty drafty, and we personally didn’t love the gold look. Insert: DIY Front Door Makeover!
Construction is always fun but always makes me a nervous. I’ve seen enough renovation TV and DIY project experience to know that something always comes up.
The door we chose is a ThermaTru door, and some of them are made right here in Indiana! It was a pre hung and primed door which saved both time and frustration. After we got it attached and secured we realized the outside trim pieces were not wide to go all the way out to the siding so I had to make another run to Lowes. I ended up buying PVC exterior trim.
I have to give props to my husband. With four littles it’s impossible for me to help the whole time and he’s such a sport about it!
The yellow paint color we chose for our Front Door Makeover is called Forysthia Blossom.
I think the only thing we are missing now is a plant!
And who doesn’t love a good side by side, before and after DIY picture??!
My friend recently asked for Colour advice on her front door…….I will share this with her. The yellow suits her personality!
It really does brighten up our house! Our mail lady even complimented our choice 🙂
