I made my kids happy today— I mixed up some pizza dough — now I can add pizza night to my menu plan! Happy kids, happy life.
This is my tried and true pizza dough recipe, and if I’m feeling really fancy we do stuffed crust! You can spilt the dough up after it rises from the freezer if you want to make stromboli, homemade hot pockets, or personal sized pizzas.
First, I add the warm water, honey (or sugar), and sprinkle the yeast on top.
I let it sit until it turns to this: (I upgraded my Kitchen Aid mixer to a Bosch and I love the lid for making bread dough because it helps trap in the heat!)
Then add in the salt and oil and half the flour until mixed. Continue adding the flour until it mixes up and pulls away from the sides to form a ball.
If I’m planning to use the pizza dough same day, just add a drizzle of oil into a large bowl, add the dough, cover, and put in a non drafty (warm) place to rise for about 2 hours.
Freezer Friendly Pizza Dough — Drizzle a little bit of oil into a freezer bag, add the dough, squeeze out the air and freeze!
To use after frozen: Set in the fridge overnight to ‘thaw’ and then set in an oiled bowl, covered, in a warm place until it doubles in size.
