I got an email this morning from a reader saying she wanted to follow along on Fill Your Freezer February, but was unsure how to get herself started.

Fill Your Freezer February!
Happy February! It’s a New Month which means a new challenge (read the beginning post HERE)! I decided this month is Fill Your Freezer February partly because the Holidays took over my normal kitchen/food routine, but also like a lot of people, I need to be better at our grocery spending. You can do this anyway you like – a pantry challenge, freezer cooking sessions, frugal food menu, but here’s my plan:
5 Tips to Monthly Meal Planning & Free Printable
As a mom with many little mouths to feed, meal planning and cooking can become a huge, dreaded task. Creating a monthly meal plan takes away some of our weekly stress and can turn cooking into an enjoyable task instead of a dreaded one! I realized a few months ago weekly meal planning wasn’t working anymore. I was meal planning for one-two days between searching pinterest, looking through the pantry, and making a list and then taking another one or two trips to the store a week only to turn around a few days later to start it all over. I was burned out and frustrated. I started monthly meal planning and using this printable system and it has been such a relief!
Homemaking Schedule: Kitchen Day
I saved the best for the last: Kitchen Day!
You can call it meal prep, food prep, or make ahead, but whatever title you give it, it sure helps the rest of the week run {more} smoothly. A meal can come together a whole lot faster, thinking ahead and having a ‘plan’ for the week, and it gives last minute options if it’s been a long day or little time to be in the kitchen. (more…)
Homemaking Schedule: Cleaning Day
Oh, cleaning day, how I hate you but I love you also. Now, personally I like to do cleaning day on Thursday, before the rush of the weekend hits but that’s a personal preference.

Depending on how bad the house is I either start with the room that needs the most attention, or I start at one end of the house and go room by room. Cleaning room by room keeps me from getting side tracked versus doing all the dusting walking room to room and noticing socks that need picked up, or that I need to send out some mail, or that I need to take out the trash…… (more…)
Homemaking Schedule: Office Day
I’m doing a weekly homemaking series this month on how to plan an effective homemaking schedule. I can see a huge difference by choosing a few days a week to majorly focus on one area of the home. Last week we talked about Laundry Day and this week I’m back to talk about Office Day. (more…)
Homemaking Schedule: Laundry Day

Ah, laundry day! It’s necessary, takes all day, but it’s only one day a week! You can read the homemaking schedule introduction HERE. Don’t feel like you need to make ALL the changes at once, that usually doesn’t work. I chose to do this series once a week this month so you don’t feel overwhelmed. This is suppose to help you plan and create a more effective homemaking schedule not make you more frazzled or frustrated.
We are a family of 6 (kids- 7,5,2, 3 months) therefore between all of us, laundry day does tend to take take all day. Starting before breakfast is one way to get the day off to a good start. If I’m really pro active, the night before laundry day the kids will help me gather up the clothes after bathtime to sort clothes 😉
Who Else Wants an Easy to Follow Homemaking Schedule?
Keeping up with the house can feel really overwhelming when there is so much to do: piles of laundry to wash, bills to be paid on time, toilets to keep clean, and keeping all the people fed. Up until a few months ago I didn’t have a very effective plan for a homemaking schedule but let me tell you it has made a huge difference!
Take a few minutes on Sunday to look over the week ahead and plan your homemaking schedule around your life — not your life around a to do list or a cleaning schedule. This is an easy to follow homemaking schedule, please know that it is flexible and changeable; not ridged or concrete. (more…)
Things I’m Loving Lately
Focus on the good. Positive breeds positive. Looking at the bright side.
1. Springtime is coming!
Granted some days snow still falls, we have one warm weathered day then the following day it pours down buckets of rain. But spring IS coming; I’ve seen glimpses, I swear it! (more…)
