Our Spoon Line Launched!

My husband and I have been doing wood projects pretty much since the day we bought our home. But over the last few years we have enjoyed the process of learning, the satisfaction of making something by your own hands, and creating something functional that we can use within our home. Fast forward and we have decided we want to share in our love of handmade pieces so we can share that love and joy with others.

Fill Your Freezer February 2019

freezer cooking banana bread

About three or four years ago I found myself purposefully doing freezer cooking in the month of February. I started it because I realized we had a habitual cycle of to getting take out too much in December (because hubby was home more), January would turn into a pantry challenge, and when February rolled around I had the momentum to eat healthy and fill our fridge/freezer back up with items we actually enjoy eating.

5 Things I’ve Learned as I’ve Began My Personal Growth Journey

I have to say I really started my personal growth journey last December after reading Rachel Hollis’ Book Girl, Wash Your Face (now a New York Times Best Seller and 2M+ copies sold) so like many women, it resonated in many ways.

It made me realize that I am not the only one who struggles within their mind, the roles they have, and how they grew up. The only thing that matter is the knowledge:

I am in control of my own life, and if I don’t like it — that’s on ME.

This last year of personal growth has been uncomfortable, thought-provoking, and inspiring. I’ve read more books, watch more videos, and listen to more podcast on how thinking affects your body (down to a cellular level), how it can create or break the use of your potential, and become the person you really want to be.

I’m also definitely not even close to where I thought I would be one year into my personal growth journey.

Here are 5 Things I’ve Learned in my Personal Growth Journey:

1. You Need People.

Good people. Honest people. People of Integrity. You also need Mentors. As far as mentors go- books, podcasts, videos- are your friend when you start your growth journey. Then search out people ahead of you in the area of growth you are wanting . It’s okay to be selective. Who you surround yourself with, you become.

2. Gratitude.

Being grateful for what you have, the knowledge you learned, the things that you have – BE GRATEFUL. …. Contentment, but not complacent.

3. They Know Their Strengths and Weaknesses.

People in the growth journey work on the weakness (and know their triggers) just as much as they develop in the area of their strengths.

4. It’s in the Schedule.

The actions steps need to reach their goal and measure progress is found in the daily and weekly tasks. You can dream about running that marathon this year, but where in your schedule this week do you see the task of running.?!

5. You Never Truly Arrive at Your Destination.

The chance to learn something else, or to still be better than you were yesterday is always there. The key is the eagerness to learn- even if you become an “expert” there is always new ideas, techniques, opinions on how to improve.

I’m sure there are many more lessons to learn. Two or more of the 5 Lessons I’ve learned have shown in almost every book/podcast/video I’ve come across!

Fall Bucket List

Fall Bucket List!! I don’t know about you, but my kids and I always get excited about a new season or a holiday. One way we kick it off is to make a list of things we want to do! Fall has already started here in Indiana, so some of these things we have already crossed off our list. There are probably 20 more things we could add to our list too!!

We Attempted Whole30: Here’s What Happened

We attempted Whole30 last month. I say attempted because we only made if officially 14 days. But wait, hear me out. I just wanted to write my family’s experience. I recognize that the Whole30 community would say that we didn’t complete the 30 days so it doesn’t count, and I would agree. But just in case this helps someone plan better, want an honest review, or are just reading through to gain some knowledge, I hope this helps them!

DIY Teeth Whitening Using 3 Kitchen Ingredients

diy teeth whitening

I originally shared this DIY Teeth Whitening Recipe on Instagram stories and I got so many messages about it! I wish I would have taken before and after pictures of our teeth! I’ve tried whitening strips and special toothpaste in the past and my teeth always became super sensitive and sometimes burn. Never mind that I never saw the dramatic results that big brands advertised. Last year I started researching home remedies- some worked so-so and some didn’t- but then I combined a few things and bam! Safe, effect, natural and using 3 kitchen ingredients!
